Flood in Aceh Utara, 17 January 2016
Since Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 17:15 pm there was a flood occurred in 9 districts in Aceh Utara, Aceh. This was caused by rain with high intensity and long lasting rain and causing Pase and Keureten River overflowed. The districts which affected by flood were Matang Kuli subdistrict, Tanah Luas, ocean, Geureudong Pase, Muara Batu, Sawang, Pirak Timu, Lhoksukon, and Nisam. The worst area which affected by the floods is Kecamtan Matangkuli, about 14 villages were submerged. Height of the flood was 1 - 1.5 m.
This disaster made 2 people suffered minor injuries / outpatient. Flood also caused about 1,505 lives Matangkuli District residents evacuated. Meunasah refugee camps located in the West Teupok village, Desa Tanjung Lawang and Haji Muda sub-district and Matangkuli Serba Jaman Tunong village in Tanah Luas.
North Aceh District Health Office initiated an evacuation, perform Rapid Health Assessment (RHA), set up health posts in refugee camps, mobilizing health workers and medicine, providing health care in health posts and health centers as well as coordinate with Disaster Agency North Aceh District Local.
