Thousands of House overflowed by Flood, Rokan Hulus residence now evacuated
Heavy rains which evenly distributed in West Sumatra and Riau most western region have caused floods and landslides. Overflowed Rokan River, Muara Bandar River, Palis river, and Batang Lubuh rivers causing flood was spreaded into Rokan IV Koto subdistrict, Pagaran Tapah Darussalam district and Rambah district.
From obtained temporary data, there are 1,050 units of houses were flooded up with height of 1.5 meters.
A total of 3,696 people directly affected because their house flooded in Rambah district . Data in other areas are still collected because the current focus is is the evacuation of people. Severe flood area is Babussalam village, High Koto village, and the Pamatang Berangan village. Data collection was performed by Rokan Hulu Local Disaster Agency.
Rokan Hulu Local Disaster Agency with joint military, police, Red Cross, Basarnas, volunteers and the community together provide an assistance for victims. Limitations of personnel and equipment caused the evacuation and aid distribution can not be done thoroughly.
Currently officers are focused on the evacuation of people from the flooded inland with the distance up to 5 km that can only be reached by small boat speed. Already more than 40 times the evacuation trip in the village. Pekanbaru Basarnas use speed boat to help the evacuation. Emergency shelters and public kitchens have been established.
Meanwhile, Koto Panjang Hydroelectric door has been opened since overflowed by flood. Kampar regency should pay attention with the flood later from Riau.
Kampar River water level has risen to 60-120 cm.
